4th Grade Teacher
My husband, Tony, and I have been married since 2008. We currently live in Braidwood (Reed Custer) with our two crazy cats, Sasha and Callie, who love to snuggle, chase flies, and shred every toilet paper roll they can find! I am the proud daughter of a 2nd grade teacher, who finally retired in 2009 after 35 years of teaching. Growing up with an educator as a parent, I knew at a young age that I wanted to become a teacher, and help children learn and grow into successful adults. Both my parents are fully retired and living the life in beautiful, sunny Florida. I go to visit as often as I can, and when I can't, we make do through video chats and Skype. I have two brothers, one sister, and 4 nephews!!! My family is wacky, chatty, and I love them!
I graduated from Minooka High School, and then attended Illinois State University for Education. After an increase in education majors and difficulty getting into classes, I reluctantly transferred to the University of St. Francis, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2008. I eventually made my way back to Illinois State University, and obtained a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning in 2016. GO REDBIRDS! I also have content area endorsements in Reading and Language, Science, and Social Studies.
I have been a 4th grade teacher at Oglesby since 2012 (and LOVING it!). However, prior to my start at Lincoln Elementary, my experience included every grade at the elementary level and some experience in middle school teaching Reading and Language. This has helped me to understand your child's knowledge base, and prepare them for the road ahead.
I love and enjoy music, with the knowledge to play several instruments. I have been an avid flutist since my start in 4th grade, and my love of the violin, has lead me as an adult, to develop my skills, by attending weekly lessons in Shorewood. I also enjoy singing, reading, sewing, gardening, and biking. I have a few hobbies such as bowling, crafting, and ARCHERY! My favorite color is purple, and I love to eat seafood! Yummm!
